Evade Beginner Guide for New Survivors

On this page
Your goal in Evade is simple: stay alive until the timer ends while nextbots chase you. Start in Casual to learn movement, buy cheap survival tools before cosmetics, and keep moving. A standard round lasts about 3 minutes.
Most shop prices and mode details below come from a community-run wiki updated in October 2026, not from the developers. Evade changes often, so trust the in-game shop if a number differs.

Which mode to pick
Open the Mode Browser from the main menu and choose before you queue.
| Mode | Lives | Who it suits | Rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Casual | Infinite, no reviving | Brand new players, up to 30 players, about 4 minute rounds | 0.8x |
| Default | Limited, with revives | Everyone once you can run a full round | Normal |
| Big Team | Limited | Players who want a crowd, up to 50 players | Not listed |
| Social Space | No nextbots | Exploring maps and hanging out, about 6 minute rounds | Not listed |
| Pro Servers | Limited, Hard and Expert maps | Level 50 or higher only | 1.1x |
Play Casual until you stop dying in the first minute. The rewards are lower, but infinite lives let you practice jumps and slides without waiting for the next round. Then move to Default, where the full reward rate applies.
How to survive a chase
Nextbots usually warn you before they arrive. Learn these three signs:
- You hear the bot's idle sound.
- Lights flicker.
- A red filter covers your screen and gets stronger as the bot closes in.
When you notice one, run first and look back later. Most nextbots are a little slower than a full sprint, so a clean run often beats them. Your speed builds as you hold the movement keys, and mistakes cut it sharply. Avoid clipping walls and corners, because losing speed is what gets you caught.
Do not hide in a quiet corner and wait. Nextbots can teleport when they get stuck, so a corner may stop being safe with no warning.
Watch out for the map too. Pits, cliffs and water can end a run with no bot nearby.
Reviving teammates
When a nextbot catches someone they go down rather than disappearing right away. You have two choices:
- Hold E next to them to revive on the spot. This is fine when no bot is close.
- Press Q to carry them somewhere safer, then hold E once you are clear.
Reviving helps the team and pays Cash, but surviving is still your main source of XP. If a bot is right on top of the downed player, keep running and return when it moves away. You cannot drink Cola while carrying someone.
Casual has no reviving, so practice this in Default.
How the currencies work
| Currency | How you get it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Tokens, also shown as Cash | Finishing rounds, daily missions, daily rewards, codes | Buys shop items |
| Experience | End of each round, based on how long you survived | Raises your level and unlocks items |
| Points | Daily missions, daily rewards, codes, seasonal exchanges | Buys cosmetics in the daily shop |
| Wins | Lasting 3 minutes without going down | Only counts survived rounds, cannot be spent |
| Wisps | Map pickups and codes during Halloween 2026 | Buys Halloween items |
Daily missions give you three tasks every 24 hours and pay Points, Tokens and XP. They are the steadiest free income, so check them each time you play. The official page also mentions Vouchers, a newer currency used for quick revives and respawns, and weekly missions.
What to buy first
Spend your first Tokens on tools that keep you alive. Cosmetics do not help you survive, so they can wait.
| Item | Slot | Price | Level | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Timer | Utility | $20 | 0 | Shows time left in the round |
| Compass | Utility | $20 | 0 | Points toward the nearest objective, or north |
| Radio | Utility | $45 | 2 | Marks a nextbot you can see, slows you 5% while selected |
| Radar | Utility | $145 | 5 | Warns you when nextbots are near, good on dark maps |
| Cola | Usable | $70 | 0 | About 50% more speed and acceleration for 6 seconds |
| Defibrillator | Usable | $50 | 10 | Instantly revives one chosen teammate |
A good order is Timer, then Cola, then Radar once you reach level 5. Only one utility and one power fit in a loadout, and usables go in a four-slot loadout. You can also equip up to two perks, bought under Character in the shop. Perks cover things like speed, revives, hearing range and end-of-round rewards.
Save Cola for moments when a bot is close, since the burst is short.
Special rounds and harder maps
About every third round on public servers turns into a special round with new rules. Some change your speed or jump, while others add fog or shuffle your gear. Read the rule when it appears and change your plan to match. Night Vision and other lights matter more on dark rounds.
Each map also has a difficulty band from Easy to Expert, and harder ones pay better. Small maps are compact copies of full layouts, so chases there happen faster.
Things to avoid
- Do not use exploits or cheats. The official page says they lead to an unappealable ban, and that includes fastflags.
- Do not buy every cosmetic before you own basic tools.
- Do not stop to emote in the open. Save it for a safe spot.
- If you are sensitive to flashing lights or loud sounds, know that the official page warns about both.
Quick start checklist
- Choose Casual in the Mode Browser.
- Play a few rounds and learn the warning signs.
- Do your daily missions.
- Buy Timer and Cola.
- Move to Default and practice carrying and reviving.
- Add Radar at level 5, then choose your first perks.
