Grow a Garden 2 Best Crops and Mutation Multipliers

In our view, the best crops for most gardens are multi-harvest plants with strong fruit value, such as Sunflower and Venus Fly Trap, then Moon Bloom and Hypno Bloom once you can afford them. Mutations are what really pay for the expensive seeds, so plant your best multi-harvest crops before big events.
Nothing below comes from the developer. Prices, multipliers and events have changed since launch, and sources disagree. Check the Seed Shop and the Sell Stand offer before you commit.
The tier list
This is TheGamer's list, updated August 18, 2026. It is that writer's opinion, based on crop potential and return on investment. Pixel Twelve and Pocket Tactics put a similar group near the top, as Pixel Twelve reported in July.
| Tier | Crops |
|---|---|
| S | Rocket Pop, Venom Spitter, Dragon's Breath, Ghost Pepper, Venus Fly Trap, Hypno Bloom, Moon Bloom, Star Fruit, Sun Bloom, Eclipse Bloom |
| A | Pomegranate, Fire Fern, Poison Ivy, Poison Apple, Sunflower, Glow Mushroom, Mushroom |
| B | Acorn, Bamboo, Horned Melon, Cherry, Dragon Fruit |
| C | Apple, Banana, Baby Cactus, Cactus, Corn, Coconut, Grape, Green Bean, Mango, Pineapple |
| D | Carrot, Tomato, Blueberry, Strawberry, Tulip |
Several S tier crops rank high because they also defend your garden, including Venus Fly Trap, Dragon's Breath, Hypno Bloom and Venom Spitter. Some are hard to get. TheGamer listed Rocket Pop as limited time, and Ghost Pepper as coming from a Robux seed pack that may not stay. You don't need any of them to make good money.
Payback: a better way to compare
A tier list won't tell you how long a seed takes to pay itself back. So we divided TheGamer's listed seed price by its base resale price. This is our own math, not a game stat. It ignores growth speed and how many fruits a plant holds at once, and TheGamer says some base values came from the community.
| Multi-harvest crop | Seed price | Base fruit value | Base fruits to pay back |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corn | 2,500 | 31 | About 81 |
| Cactus | 5,000 | 36 | About 139 |
| Dragon Fruit | 120,000 | 135 | About 889 |
| Venus Fly Trap | 7M | 2,708 | About 2,585 |
| Sunflower | 5M | 1,579 | About 3,167 |
| Cherry | 1.2M | 316 | About 3,797 |
| Moon Bloom | 65M | 8,122 | About 8,003 |
| Venom Spitter | 30M | 3,610 | About 8,310 |
| Hypno Bloom | 90M | 8,574 | About 10,497 |
| Pomegranate | 12M | 812 | About 14,778 |
| Dragon's Breath | 90M | 3,068 | About 29,335 |
Three things stand out:
- Dragon Fruit is cheap for a Legendary. It pays back far sooner than others near its price, such as Mango or Coconut.
- Venus Fly Trap looks strong. It has the best payback of the expensive seeds in this table, and it can defend your plot.
- Dragon's Breath is not a pure money crop. You are partly paying for defense.
Single-harvest seeds work differently. Bamboo at 700 Sheckles lists a 722 base resale, so one sale roughly pays for the seed. Mushroom is riskier. TheGamer reports buying at 15,000 and sometimes selling for about 6,000, with value changing by color. Only buy it again if your own sales clearly cover the cost.
What each mutation pays
The numbers below show why sources need checking. A crop holds one mutation at a time, and these sources agree that they do not stack.
| Mutation | Source | Beebom (Aug 3) | MyGagCalculator (Aug) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glow | Star Fruit | 100x | 70x or 80x, disputed |
| Eclipsed | Eclipse event | 80x | 80x |
| Bloodlit | Blood Moon | 60x | 60x or 70x |
| Ignited | Sunburst | 60x | 60x, disputed |
| Starstruck | Starfall | 50x | 50x |
| Electric | Lightning | 25x | 25x |
| Rainbow | Rainbow event, seeds, Unicorn pet | 10x | 30x |
| Frozen | Snowfall | 14x | 14x to 20x, disputed |
| Gold | Gold seeds, random chance | 10x | 10x |
| Aurora | Aurora Borealis | 1.5x | 40x |
A third source, Bloxodes, lists Frozen at 3x. Rainbow and Aurora differ the most, so test those at the Sell Stand instead of trusting any chart.
To see why mutations matter, take Moon Bloom. Using Bloodlit at 60x and assuming the multiplier applies in full to the base price, one fruit would be worth about 487,000 Sheckles. The payback drops from about 8,003 fruits to about 134. That is an estimate, since the real offer also depends on size.
Reported details to test yourself
These come from a single calculator site, so treat them as unconfirmed.
- Single-harvest crops may get a reduced multiplier. It reports a formula that would make Starstruck worth about 8.35x on a single-harvest crop instead of 50x. If true, it is another reason to favor multi-harvest crops for events.
- Weight may count for a lot. It reports that crop value scales with the square of weight, so a crop twice the base weight sells for about four times more. Try comparing two sizes of the same fruit at the Sell Stand.
- Replacing a mutation is uncertain. It says a new event mutation either replaces an old one or fails to apply. If your plot holds a cheap mutation before a big event, consider selling those fruits first.
How to prepare your plot
- Keep multi-harvest plants in place. They keep making new fruit that can catch the next event. A seed in your inventory cannot mutate.
- Put sprinklers on your best crops. Beebom and Pixel Twelve report that sprinklers improve mutation chances. Start with the plants worth the most.
- Don't plant weak crops just for an event. A cheap crop with a big multiplier may still earn less than a good crop with a smaller one.
- Stay in your server when useful weather starts. Trust the notice on your screen over any outside timer. Pixel Twelve warns that rejoining doesn't guarantee an event and can cost you the time left.
- Sell when it funds your next upgrade. Holding mutated fruit overnight carries risk, because other players can steal at night.
Seed event crops, such as Fall Harvest plants, were listed as limited and may be gone. Amber was reported as available until October 1, 2026, so check whether it still appears before you plan around it.
Buying seed packs with Robux is optional, and rolls don't guarantee the seed you want. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian first.
