Jailbreak Beginner Guide

Start as a Prisoner, escape through the sewer in the yard, and rob the Donut Shop or Jewelry Store first. Turn in your loot before doing anything else, then save for a car. Repeat that loop while you learn the map.
Pick a team
Jailbreak on Roblox sums up the game as organizing a robbery or catching criminals, either in a group or solo.
| Role | How you start | Your goal |
|---|---|---|
| Prisoner | Locked in the prison | Break out and become a Criminal |
| Criminal | Free after escaping | Rob places and cash out |
| Police | Free, with arrest tools and vehicles | Arrest criminals for cash and bounties |
Try Police for a while if the map confuses you. You get to see the robbery spots without having to escape first.
How to escape
Fan guides call the sewer the most reliable first route. Learn at least one more, because players may camp the exit.
| Route | What you do | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Sewer | Use the sewer grate in the prison yard | Your first escapes |
| Keycard | Pickpocket a cop, then open locked doors | When the yard is busy |
| Dynamite or C4 | Blow a hole in a marked wall | When you have the item |
| Vehicle pickup | A friend flies or drives you out | Playing with a friend |
To pickpocket, sneak up behind a cop and hold E. One fan guide says the cop is told right away and usually chases you, so have a way out planned. It also says you lose the keycard if you die or get arrested. You need a keycard for the bank too.
Controls
On PC, one fan guide lists WASD to move, E to interact, Tab for inventory and Space to jump. It also says custom keybinds and mobile layout editing were added in August 2026, so check your settings.
Your first robberies
| Robbery | When to try it | What you need | Where you turn in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Donut Shop | First | Nothing | On completion or nearby |
| Gas Station | First | Nothing | On completion or nearby |
| Jewelry Store | First or second | Nothing | Criminal base |
| Rising City Bank | Once you have a keycard | Keycard | Follow the on-screen prompt |
| Museum | With a partner | A second player | Volcano collector |
| Power Plant | When you have a fast car | A fast car helps | Volcano collector |
Start with small stores, then try the Jewelry Store once you know the way. At the Jewelry Store, break the display cases, climb the floors while avoiding lasers, and leave by the roof. Wait on the Museum until you have a partner, since it takes two people to start.
Stores only pay out when they have money, and robberies can be closed. Look at the map or the building before you drive over. Fan pages give different payout numbers, and they even conflict on the same page, so we are leaving those out. In general, the small stores pay less and the big heists pay more.
Always cash out
Your loot does not count until you finish a valid turn-in. Dying or getting arrested can wipe out what you have not turned in. So:
- Fill your bag, but do not get greedy when police arrive.
- Follow the in-game prompt to the collector or base. It is the most reliable guide to where you should go.
- Do not stand around with a full bag. If the city base is camped, the Volcano base is a backup for Jewelry Store loot, according to one fan guide.
Your first vehicle
You will want a car before you take on bigger robberies. Fan guides disagree on which one to get. One lists the Pickup at $9,000 as a first buy, but that page is archived and may be out of date. Another suggests the Camaro. Check prices at the dealer.
Park your car close to the robbery and facing the way out before you start. Avoid moving targets like trains and cargo planes until you are comfortable, because one fan guide suggests waiting until you have an aircraft.
Staying alive
These tips come from a January 2024 guide, so some may be dated, but the basics still make sense.
- Dodge roll helps you get in and out of fights.
- Strafe left and right when you aim, so you are harder to hit.
- Use cover when several players are shooting at you.
- Check the minimap to spot nearby enemies.
- Do not reload in the middle of a fight if you can switch weapons instead.
- Reset if you spawn far from where you want to be. This is a normal game option.
- Deal with police first during a heist, or you risk being arrested with a full bag.
Tips for playing Police
- Learn the robbery spots. Criminals have to go to them.
- Use your taser whenever you can and rush criminals, rather than trading shots at long range.
- Watch for criminals with high bounties. Arrests and bounties are how you earn money as a cop.
Goals to aim for
The official badges give good targets once you have the basics down.
- Master Criminal. Rob the Jewelry Store, the Bank, the Donut Shop and the Gas Station between in-game sunrise and sunset.
- Bonnie & Clyde. Free a fellow criminal from handcuffs and defeat the player who cuffed them.
- Smooth Criminal. Have the highest bounty in a busy server, and it must be over 500.
- Bank Bust. As Police, stop a bank robbery with more than 3 criminals.
Common mistakes
- Having only one escape route.
- Fighting armed cops before you are ready.
- Carrying a full bag around without turning it in.
- Using glitches or scripts. Stick to normal play, as cheating can get your account banned.
How up to date is this
The game description and badges come directly from Roblox. Escape routes and robbery details come from fan guides updated in September 2026 or earlier, and Jailbreak changes often. Some older pages still mention a Crater City Bank, while newer ones list only Rising City Bank, so go by what your map shows.
